Sun Feng (Chinese: 孙锋) was born on November 5, 1971, in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China. He is a Russian photographer, curator, art historian, and patron, recognized for his work in the arts and culture, as well as for strengthening cultural ties between Russia and China. Sun Feng is the first citizen of the People's Republic of China to be elected as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Education and Academic Degree

Sun Feng graduated from the Russian University of Friendship of Peoples (RUDN) in 2010, earning a Ph.D. in Philology. His dissertation focused on Chinese photojournalism as a vital tool in forming an objective image of China.

Professional Activities

Since 2020, Sun has served as the Advisor to the Rector of the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, specializing in developing ties with the People's Republic of China. Since 2024, he has held the position of Vice-Rector for Research at the same institution. Since 2024 he has also been an Advisor to the Rector of the Saratov State Conservatory named after L.V. Sobinov.

  • Certificate of Honor from RUDN for his personal photo exhibition (2005)
  • State Prize of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China (2006)
  • Commemorative Medal from the Brandenburg International Music Competition (2017)
  • Honorary Professor of the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov (2019)
  • Silver Disc from the Russian Academy of Music named after Gnessin for achievements in bayan art (2020)
