Submission declined on 15 May 2024 by Qcne (talk). This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources. This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by Qcne 5 months ago. |
- Comment: On Wikipedia, there is consensus that cryptocurrency news outlets (like CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, etc) are not reliable sources that can be used to establish notability. In order to meet the notability criteria you will need to locate additional sources that are reliable, secondary and independent. ~Liancetalk 22:13, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
Sugartown (Web3 Game)
Overview
[edit]Sugartown is a web3 games platform and IP developed and published by Zynga, which is owned by Take-Two Interactive Software. Sugartown allows players to use the Ethereum network, which allows users to communicate with other users and earn rewards within games. Sugartown uses non-fungible tokens (NFTs). [1]
Storyline
[edit]Initially set on a farm, Sugartown tells the story of a pig, a goat and a bird, who prefer gaming and coding to munching hay and pecking for scraps. After receiving a postcard from their childhood friend Mel Badger, they hatch a plan to visit him in Sugartown. They steal the Farmer’s truck and escape but are unaware that their secret coding exploits accidentally created a wormhole in the space-time continuum. The wormhole connects to another dimension and lets otherworldly beings called Oras travel to Sugartown too. Initially emerging as fast-moving streaks of colored light (then revealing themselves as 9999 unique game-inspired beings) Oras are the essence of the lives lost while gaming. The industrious Oras use their game-loving creativity and power to build a towering arcade that transforms Sugartown into a world of fun and games- just in time for Pig, Bird, Goat’s reunion with Mayor Mel.[2]
Gameplay Mechanics
[edit]Players enter Sugartown using their ERC-721 Ora token as proof of ownership, granting them access to the game world. Staking Oras uses an energy system where users spend energy to play Sugartown games and earn Sugar, the in-game currency that unlocks rewards. Players can mine Oras, with the initial run of 9,999 Oras being free. Sugartown has indicated there will be developments towards the scale of the ecosystem, and removing the ERC-721 gate while still owning NFT.[3]
Token Economy
[edit]Owning an Ora becomes a prerequisite to accessing free-to-play minigames within Sugartown. The game employs a web3 structure. The game has a token economy.[4]
Marketing and Launch
[edit]Sugartown made its first appearance to the web3 community through an anonymous marketing campaign on January 25, 2023. The community grew on X (formerly Twitter) and Discord. Zynga's official announcement included an X Spaces conversation with Matt Wolf, which enhanced player engagement and community interaction.
The formal launch of Sugartown happened on September 9th, 2023.[5]
