Stream Hill is a suburb in the City of Wollongong, NSW. It was officially gazetted and came into use on 5 May 2023, following a subdivision of the existing suburb of Kembla Grange.[1]

Location

[edit]

Stream Hill is situated adjacent to Kembla Grange, within the West Dapto area, approximately southwest of Wollongong's central business district. The suburb's boundaries were delineated to better manage the region's development and address community identity.[2]

History

[edit]

The creation of Stream Hill was part of Wollongong City Council's efforts to accommodate growth in the West Dapto area. The name 'Stream Hill' was proposed by a Kembla Grange resident during a community input process and was subsequently endorsed by the Geographical Names Board of NSW.[1]

Features

[edit]

As a newly established suburb, Stream Hill is expected to undergo significant development, including residential housing and community facilities, aligning with the broader urban planning objectives for the West Dapto area.[3]

Governance

[edit]

Stream Hill falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Wollongong local government area. It is part of the state electoral district of Wollongong and the federal division of Cunningham.[4][5]
