History

[edit]

Stinger was founded in 1987 by Micah Ansley as a small distributor of installation supplies under the name, AAMP of America.[2]

In 2003, AAMP of America was acquired by ICV Capital Partners.[3]

In 2006, ICV Capital Partners sold AAMP of America to Audax Group.[4] The same year, AAMP of America acquired Select Products and Pacific Accessory Corporation (PAC). In 2008, it merged the PAC and Peripheral brands. In 2010, it introduced the iSimple brand and re-launched the Phoenix Gold mobile brand after acquiring it from home and car audio company, Rodin.[5]

In 2016, AAMP of America rebranded to AAMP Global with the consolidation of Rosen Electronics and Armour Automotive, an acquisition that was made in 2014.[6]

In 2019, Audax Private Equity sold AAMP Global to The Halifax Group.[7]

In 2022, AAMP Global acquired AudioControl, a Seattle, Washington based company that develops audio products, engineered for the automotive, residential, and commercial markets. AAMP Global retained the automotive business while divesting the residential and commercial businesses of AudioControl.[8]

In 2023, AAMP Global rebranded to Stinger.[9]

In 2024, Stinger acquired BOYO from Vision Tech America, an aftermarket camera and safety technologies company.[10]
