The St. Louis Blues Society was established in 1984, with the goal of preserving blues music in and from St. Louis. Its founders are Tommy Bankhead, Silvercloud, Bennie Smith, John May, Ron Edwards, Frank Babcock, and Sam Valenti. The Blues Society has published compilation albums featuring a number of artists corresponding with the year the album was released, such as their 2018 album, "18 in 18".[1]
Events
[edit]The St. Louis Blues Society formerly hosted the Blues & Heritage Festival, a festival celebrating the blues and Missouri blues artists, starting in 1986. [2] Today, the Blues Heritage Festival is known as the Big Muddy Blues Festival, and is organized by the Blues Heritage Festival Inc.
