Spencer Coffman is an American apostle, preacher, author, and speaker. Renowned for his expertise in sharing the word of God, deception detection, and community service, he founded Social Media Ministries and has authored a number of books.[1]

Early Life and Education

[edit]

[2]Spencer Coffman was born on Father’s Day in 1992 in Alexandria, Minnesota. His early life was shaped by health challenges, which he overcame through a strict naturopathic diet and disciplined lifestyle. By the age of 14, Spencer’s health had dramatically improved, enabling him to live medication-free.

Spencer excelled academically, homeschooling from age 11 and earning diplomas in Professional and Advanced Locksmithing by age 14. He graduated high school within a year and a half and received an Associate of Science degree in Individualized Professional Studies and a Diploma in Concrete Masonry from Alexandria Technical College by the age of 17 and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society.

At Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), Spencer pursued dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Philosophy, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude, in 2012. He is a member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society and was recognized for his research, including his psychology thesis, Facial Expression: The Ability to Distinguish Between Enjoyment and Non-Enjoyment Smiles, published in the Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research.[3]

In an effort to further his education and travel the world, in 2013, Spencer Coffman became certified to teach English at the elementary and advanced level by the American TESOL Institute. Unfortunately, due to the wars in the Middle East, Spencer never traveled abroad to teach.

Career

[edit]

Spencer began his career working for the American TESOL Institute helping them create coursework, syllabi, and lesson plans. He later worked at a treatment facility for troubled youth, where he easily earned the respect of residents but faced resistance from jealous colleagues. This experience shaped his advocacy for humane treatment of at-risk individuals.

While working with the youth, he volunteered at a local food pantry. After about a year, the director retired and Spencer was strongly encouraged to apply for the job. He received it and was responsible for distributing nearly a million pounds of food to some 47,500 people in need each year as well as overseeing 1,500 volunteers annually.[4]

Spencer eventually resigned and transitioned to self-employment after facing challenges with the board of directors. He undertook various ventures such as handyman services, selling on eBay, affiliate marketing, and online education.

In 2015, Spencer authored A Guide to Deception, a guide on understanding body language and detecting lies. He also developed an online presence through YouTube and other platforms, sharing his expertise and promoting education.
