Introduction

[edit]

Ever since the start of the civil war in Syria, Idlib has been a hot bed for Jihadist, with dozens of Factions and sub-factions being formed or being active there, such as the Ansar al-Din Front, Al-Nusra Front, Hurras al-Din, and many Others. These Factions do not always get along, and sometimes even openly fight with each other. Tahrir al-Sham Is one of the strongest in the area, But other factions such as Hurras al-Din have been an outright enemy of Tahrir al-Sham Forming Joint Operations Rooms excluding Tahrir al-Sham, many of these groups outright Claim that Tahrir al-Sham works directly with the Turkish government. Tahrir Al-sham have also launched campaigns to consolidate their power and rid Idlib of opponents/competitors.

Foundation

[edit]

"So Be Steadfast Operations Room" formed the same day the "And Rouse the Believers Operations Room" was dissolved, As a successor Coalition to it. Two new Factions joined it, both led by ex-Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham commanders. most notably Tansiqiyat al-Jihad and Liwa al-Muqatileen al-Ansar. All Sharing the same ideology of Jihadism and opposing Bashar in Northwestern Syria

Rivalry with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham

[edit]

Many Members of these groups are disgruntled with Tahrir al-Sham due to their lack of concern with Turkish involvement in northern Syria with some of them outright claiming that Tahrir al-Sham directly co-operates with Turkey.

Tensions also began rising 2 years before this point between Hurras al-Din and Tahrir al-Sham due to Tahrir Al-Sham doing massive crackdowns on ISIS and Al-Qaeda remnants in Idlib and surrounding areas. These crackdowns started shortly after the Ceasefire Tahrir Al-Sham and turkey made in early 2017 and Allowing turkey to establish observation posts in its territory and even joining joint operations rooms with Turkish backed Factions.[2][3]
