Siralumunas

[edit]

The Siralumunas is the mythical daughter of the God of time in Filipino Folklore. She is notoriously known as the 'alpha daughter' of the Gods as stories feature her constantly solving her family's problems and being a mediator during conflict. It is said that she is the ultimate multitasker and problem solver with her ability to separate her torso from her body in a similar fashion to the Aswang - an evil shapeshifter creature in Philippine mythology.

Etymology

[edit]

The name Siralumunas derives from the tagalog words sira, meaning 'to destroy' and lumunas, meaning 'to heal' or 'to cure'. This name was given to the creature due to her two heads and two personalities.

Behaviour & Personalities

[edit]

The two heads of Siralumunas are said to be as opposite as day and night. Being the daughter of time, she is hyper aware

Buan (Night)
[edit]

The buan personality or head is said to be the dominant side of Siralumunas. Due to her bat-like form and nature, she awakens at dusk to carry out the various tasks set by her father and her torso detaches from her lower body - literally and figuratively tearing herself apart for the benefit of others.

Araw (Day)
[edit]

The araw personality or head is the repressed side of the Siralumunas. This side is described as a softer and gentle being who wishes to bask in the sunlight but is left deprived due to the body of the Siralumunas being exhausted after working during the night.
