Siqi Chen (Chinese: 陈思齐, born 1984) is a tech entrepreneur and investor. He graduated from the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, San Diego.[1], and holds an Harvard MBA[2].
He is currently the CEO and co-founder of Runway Financial[2], and a board member of the virtual reality company Sandbox VR[3].
In addition to his operational roles, Chen has invested in nearly 100 companies, including ElevenLabs, Amplitude, Pipe, and Owner.com[4]. Before his career, Chen worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and received the US Congressional Space Act Board Award[1].
Early Life

[edit]Siqi Chen was born in Dalian, China, and spent his childhood frequently traveling between China and the United States. Due to his father went to America for postgraduate studies, Siqi was raised by his grandparents. At the age of four, he moved to the United States to live with his parents. When he was eight, financial difficulties forced his father to send Chen and his mother back to China, where they lived for four years. At the age of 12, Chen returned to the United States [5]
Education Background
[edit]From 2001 to 2005, Siqi studied at the University of California, San Diego, achieved bachelor's degrees in computer science and mathematics.[1]
NASA Experience
[edit]During his university years, Siqi worked at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.[6]
He designed and developed 3D visualization and simulation systems for the Mars pinpoint landing project, and received US Congressional Space Act Board Award. He also designed and developed the Geophysical-Astrophysical Lunar Telescope for automated ground truth tracking with theodolytes. [edit]Siqi Chen's first meeting with his wife, Yi Ding, was full of coincidences. The two met at a club event during a game developers' conference, introduced by a group of friends. At that time, Siqi Chen had just sold his first company to Zynga, and Yi Ding wanted to build a game for Chinese version of "The Apprentice" she was about to host. In their first conversation, Ding Yi mentioned that she had a sheepdog named "Cat," while Siqi Chen happened to have a cat named "Dog".[5]
Family Life
