Draft:Simon Dawson (musician)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simon Dawson is an English drummer, best known for his work with British Lion, the side project of Iron Maiden's bassist, Steve Harris. Dawson joined the band as part of its evolution into a group after its initial release as a solo project for Harris in 2012. Alongside Harris, Dawson has contributed to the band's blend of hard rock and heavy metal influences, with a sound rooted in 1970s rock era.

Before his involvement in British Lion, Dawson gained experience as a drummer in the UK rock scene, though detailed information about his early career and background remains sparse. His work with British Lion[1] has brought him into the spotlight, showcasing his versatile drumming style across studio albums like The Burning (2020)[2] and the band's extensive live performances.

As a part of British Lion, Dawson continues to collaborate with a lineup of seasoned musicians, including Richard Taylor (vocals), David Hawkins (guitar), and Grahame Leslie (guitar). The band operates in a space distinct from Harris' main work with Iron Maiden, focusing on smaller, more intimate venues and crafting music that reflects their unique collective identity.

On 8 December 2024, Simon Dawson was announced as the new touring drummer for Iron Maiden, following Nicko McBrain's retirement from touring.
