Sightmark is a manufacturer of optics and accessories for firearms, known for producing a variety of products including rifle scopes, red dot sights, laser sights, and other shooting and hunting equipment. The company caters to a wide range of customers, from recreational shooters to professional hunters and law enforcement personnel.
History
[edit]Sightmark was founded in 2007,[1] during a period of growing interest in modern sporting rifles, following the expiration of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban in 2004. As veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts returned home, many sought civilian versions of the M4 and M16 platforms they had used in military service, such as the AR-15. Recognizing that most firearm accessories at the time were tailored for bolt-action rifles, Sightmark was created to address the needs of this emerging market of modern rifle owners.[2] Aside from its line of traditional optics, Sightmark also manufactures night vision and thermal devices.
The company is also notable for holding utility patents for universal boresights as well as a number of other patents for both digital and traditional optics[3][4][5].
Products
[edit]- Riflescopes
Sightmark rifle scopes are designed for use on modern sporting rifles. They are available in various magnifications and include low-power variable optics (LPVOs) as well as high-magnification riflescopes for long range shooting. Many of their scopes feature technologies such as illuminated reticles, first focal plane (FFP) and second focal plane (SFP) options, and durable construction suitable for rugged outdoor conditions.
- Core - This series has the largest variety of riflescopes with the most basic features.
- Presidio - Intermediate level products with decent glass and features.
- Latitude - Sightmark's long-range riflescopes, featuring high magnification, good glass, and features designed for long distance shooting.
- Pinnacle - Scopes constructed with premium glass and features.
- Red Dot Sights
Red dot sights from Sightmark are popular for their quick target acquisition and ease of use. These sights are commonly used on both rifles and handguns and are favored by shooters for close to mid-range engagements.
- Core Shot - Basic rifle red dots.
- MTS - Tube-style red dots.
- Mini Shot - Smaller reflex sights designed for pistols.
- Solar - Solar-powered sights.
- Ultra Shot - Hooded red dots for rifles and shotguns.
- Wolverine - Red dots designed for maximum durability.
- Night Vision and Thermal Devices
In addition to daytime optics, Sightmark produces night vision and thermal imaging devices. Breaking into the night vision market with the Photon-S hybrid night vision riflescope in 2013[6], Sightmark's current line of digital night vision optics exists in the form of the Wraith series. These products are used for nighttime hunting and dynamic shooting, offering enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.
- Accessories
Sightmark also offers a range of shooting accessories, including boresights, spotting scopes, binoculars, as well as other products. These accessories are designed to complement their optics and enhance customers' overall shooting experience.
Market and Distribution
[edit]Sightmark products are distributed worldwide and are available through a variety of channels, including online retailers, sporting goods stores, and specialty firearms shops. The company also participates in major industry trade shows such as SHOT Show, NRA, and Texas Trophy Hunters[7][8][9] as well as international events such as IWA, Game Fair, and Adihex[10][11] to showcase their latest innovations.
Military and Government Use
[edit]Sightmark is a GSA schedule contract holder with a dedicated sales team for government and law enforcement sales.[12] Sightmark optics are used by various security forces and law enforcement organizations within the United States as well as agencies worldwide.[13]
