Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam Muktamanch (Bengali: শহীদ সৈয়দ নজরুল ইসলাম মুক্তমঞ্চ) is an open-air stage in Mymensingh, which is used for cultural and social events. It is centrally located in the city and is known as one of the hubs of entertainment and culture for the residents of Mymensingh. Cultural events, political gatherings, and various festivals are often held here.

[edit]Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam Muktamanch is a prominent cultural center located in the centre of Mymensingh city. It is located in the grounds in front of Ananda Mohan College, an important place for students and cultured people of the city. Near Muktamanch is the monumental residence of Syed Nazrul Islam, which is considered as a historically important place.[1]
History
[edit]Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam Muktamanch is considered as an important place for cultural, social and political activities in Mymensingh city. This Muktamanch was established in the memory of one of the leaders of the great liberation war and the first interim president of Bangladesh, Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam. He was one of the four national leaders who led the liberation war and played a special role in the reconstruction of Bangladesh after independence.
Muktamanch was established in the 1990s by the initiative of the district administration of Mymensingh. It was established as a cultural platform through the efforts of local artists and cultural activists. Various cultural programs including plays, musical performances, recitals, programs based on the liberation war are regularly organized here, which reflect the cultural heritage of Mymensingh and the spirit of independence.
