From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sepp Osley is an Iranian born, Canadian musician, singer and songwriter.[1] He fled war torn Iran as a child with his family in the 1980's.[2] His career began in 2010 with the formation of rock band Blurred Vision which he founded with brother Sohl Osley and found popularity through with the release of the group's first single and remake of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall part 2" which they dubbed "Hey Ayatollah Leave Those Kids Alone" in support of the Green Movement protests in Iran during the 2009-2010 Iranian election protests.[3]

In 2019, after relocating to London UK from Canada, he founded the Dear John Concert which became an annual celebration of singer-songwriter John Lennon occurring on the late artist's birthday, and which featured Steve Hogarth of the band Marillion, and Nick Van Eede of 80's pop group Cutting Crew.[4] The concert went on to become a global online concert event and had Sepp collaborate with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Graham Gouldman of 10CC, KT Tunstall and many more.[5]

Sepp Osley called an end to the band Blurred Vision in June 2023 to pursue his solo career. In October 2023, he released "Dear John" featuring Peter Frampton and Mollie Marriott as a tribute to The Beatles late singer John Lennon and as a new single.[6]

In March 2024 his next single "Sing (Freedom Club Mix)", which was classified as a "dance pop anthem" followed up his 2023 debut releases,[7] and entered the top 100 UK Singles Chart on iTunes upon release.[8]

In August 2024 his release and remake of the Bob Marley track Redemption Song, served as a follow up to the campaign to free persecuted Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi from prison in Iran, and Osley helped bring together a petition that included Duran Duran, Nile Rodgers, Peter Gabriel, Tom Morello, Merck Mercuriadis and many others who joined Sepp calling for the Iranian rapper's freedom.[9]
