The Scottish Football Personality awards was an initiative, officially backed the SFA, for football personalities to be awarded on a monthly and annual basis for a contribution to the sport.[1]

Started in 1976–77, sponsored by Mackinlay old Scotch whiskey a panel of judges selected a winner and runner-up.

A new awards setup replaced it in 1984–85, sponsored by Scottish Brewers, it was split into two separate categories, a manager's award and a player's award.[2]
