Scooter's Coffee ("Scooter's") is an American quick-serve coffee franchise based in Omaha, Nebraska, United States founded by Don and Linda Eckles. Originally named "Scooter's Java Express," the company chose the term "scooter" to emphasize their goal to help customers "scoot in and scoot out" quickly.[1]
Restaurant Format
[edit]Scooter's operates kiosk and coffeehouse location types. The kiosk model is roughly 660 square feet containing only enough space for workers and restaurant equipment. Scooter's coffeehouse is slightly larger with customer seating space. Both utilize their signature drive-thru.[2]
Growth & Expansion
[edit]As of November 2023, Scooter's network of stores is nearing 750 across 30 states[3] and hopes to expand to 1,000.[2] Scooter's franchise opportunities are available across the U.S. except in sold out markets (Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota) and Alaska, California, and Hawaii.[4] During 2017, Scooter's revenue grew by 267%.[5] In 2023, Scooter's was listed on the Inc. 5000 list, which lists private, independent companies based on percentage of revenue growth over the previous three years.
Awards & Recognition
[edit]Scooter's has received multiple awards by industry media. In 2019, Scooter's was listed as a "Top Multi-Unit Franchise" by Franchise Business Review.[2] Additionally, Scooter's has been recognized as #13 in Yelp's 2023 "50 Most Loved Brands in the U.S." list and #3 on Franchise Times "Fast & Serious 40 Smartest-Growing Franchises" in 2023.[3]
