Submission declined on 2 October 2024 by KylieTastic (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Declined by KylieTastic 49 days ago. |

Sam Lin (Chinese: 林中宣, born May 28, 1991) is an American-Taiwanese singer-songwriter. He was born May 28, 1991, in Taipei, Taiwan, to Meihsia Wen, a school teacher, and Rex Lin, a music teacher, who grew up in a Christian household. He has a younger sister named Melody. When Lin was four, his family immigrated to San Jose, California, where he was introduced to classical music by his father at age seven, starting his journey in music by learning the violin. By age fourteen, he was already performing in orchestras throughout California.
Lin attended Cupertino High School and later graduated from the University of California, San Diego, in 2013, with a major in Communications and a minor in business.
Career
[edit]2013–2016: YouTube Beginnings
In 2013, Lin launched his YouTube channel, samlinmusic, [1], where he posted cover songs and performances. His early success came in 2014 when he won a national online video competition sponsored by popular violinist Lindsey Stirling. This victory significantly boosted his follower base and introduced him to a wider audience.
2016–2022: Move to Taiwan and Warner Music
Lin moved to Taiwan in 2016 to pursue a full-time music career. He signed with Warner Music Taiwan in 2021[2] and released six singles during his time with the label. Writing and performing in Mandarin presented a unique challenge as Mandarin was not his first language. After two years, Lin decided to part ways with the label and pursue an independent career, focusing on English-language music.
2023–2024: Breakthrough with "Turn The Page"
Lin's major breakthrough came in 2023 with the release of his hit single "Turn The Page", written while living in Los Angeles. Though Lin initially did not expect it to be a viral sensation, the song resonated with listeners and became a massive hit on Chinese platforms such as Douyin[3], QQ Music, and TMC, amassing over 50 million streams and becoming the background music for over 1 million Douyin users. The song dominated the mainland Chinese charts for 12 consecutive weeks.
In the summer of 2024, "Turn The Page" gained popularity in the Philippines, further expanding Lin's fanbase across Southeast Asia. This surge in recognition led him to perform in Asia at least two to three times a year, while maintaining his residence in the Bay Area, California.
Social Media Presence
[edit]As of 2024, Lin has built a robust social media presence, with over 300K followers on Instagram, 400K on Facebook, 200K subscribers on YouTube, and 180K followers on TikTok. His Spotify profile boasts over 200K monthly listeners, a number that continues to grow.
