Sam Ahmeel Finley (Born October 26, 1994[1]) is an American professional basketball player for the Limerick Sports Eagles of Basketball Ireland. He is a point guard and played collegiately at the University of California, Riverside and the University of Mississippi. He transferred from Howard College.
High School career
[edit]Finley played at Martin Luther King High School as a Freshman and Sophmore.[2] Finley transferred to Centennial High School for his junior and senior season. He sat out his junior season due to a CIF penalty. During his senior year he led the Huskies to a 26-3 record and averaged 21.4ppg and 2.3spg. He helped advance Centennial High School into the Big VIII league playoffs. The team reached the second-round of the Big VIII league playoffs the same year.[3] Finley was a 2 star recruit with a 64 Scout Grade[4] coming out of high school.
College career
[edit]Finley began his collegiate career at University of California, Riverside. During his freshman season he averaged 12.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game. He was named the Big West's 6th Man of the Year by College Hoops Daily. He also led the Highlanders in scoring in Big West Conference games (15.2 ppg).[3]
After his freshman season at University of California, Riverside he transferred to Howard College, where he averaged 17.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. Finley originally committed to play at California State University, Fullerton during November of his sophomore season. He later de-committed and chose to explore his recruiting. He committed to play for the University of Mississippi on March 9, 2015.[5]
Finley would go on to play his junior season at the University of Mississippi. He played a total of 17 games and averaged 5.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game.[6] He scored a season-high 16 points on November 13, 2015 against the Northwestern State Demons.
Finley would miss the 16-17 season and would return to college basketball during the 17-18 season to finish his senior year with the Arizona Christian University Firestorm. As a senior he would average 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.[1]
Professional career
[edit]After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, Finley took a break from basketball.
Limerick Sports Eagles (2023-present)
[edit]On December 30, 2023, Finley signed with Basketball Ireland National League team Limerick Sports Eagles.[7][8]

Personal life
[edit]While attending Howard College, Finley earned an Associate degree.
Finley is the child of Sam Finley Jr & Carla Luke-Byers. He has 10 siblings.[9]
