Rohit M.G. Krishnan is an Indian filmmaker and screenwriter who debuted in Malayalam film industry with the critically acclaimed cinema Iratta. He bagged the prestigious Kerala State Film Award for best screenplay for this film Iratta (2023), a psychological thriller that explores themes of trauma and redemption. The film also won many awards including the prestigious Kerala State Film Awards for best second film, siima awards, film critics awards etc. The film is highly regarded for its compelling narrative and was widely praised for its innovative storytelling techniques.

Rohit, born in Malappuram district of Kerala, pursued his education while nurturing a passion for filmmaking. He started directing short films during his college years between 2008 and 2012, most of them were lauded at many festivals. He started a professional career as a postal assistant at the Head Post office in Ottapalam, Kerala. Yet he continued exploring his interest after the busy working hours with a willful passion.

Rohit made his directorial debut with Iratta in 2023. The film, starring Joju George in dual roles as twin police officers, delves into complex psychological themes and received praise for its compelling screenplay. Rohit began developing the script in 2017, inspired by an incident in Kerala. After multiple revisions during the COVID-19 pandemic, the screenplay evolved to portray its protagonists as twins, adding layers to its narrative. Critics lauded Iratta for its storytelling and direction, with the film being recognized as one of the notable releases in Malayalam cinema that year. It received significant media coverage, with profiles and reviews published in outlets like The Hindu, Cinema Express, and The New Indian Express. While Rohit’s debut feature brought him into the limelight, it also garnered nominations and awards at state-level film award ceremonies. Iratta brought him the best screenplay award at the Kerala State Film Awards and also the film bang the second best film too.
