Rixi Ramona Moncada Godoy is a Honduran politician,lawyer and financist, serving as current minister of defense of Honduras since the 1 of september of 2024 in the Liberty and Refoundation party.

Political carrer

She worked in the private sector and also in the judicial sector as a judge and magistrate of the criminal jurisdiction. In the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Congress of the Republic she served as an advisor for a decade. In the government of President José Manuel Zelaya Rosales (2006-2009) she was Secretary of State in the Labor and Social Security offices, from where she chaired the boards of directors of the Professional Training Institute, the Social Security Institute (IHSS) and the Institute of Retirement and Pensions of Employees of the Executive Branch (INJUPEMP). In the political arena, after returning from exile following the 2009 coup d'état, she joined the Popular Resistance and is co-founder of the Liberty and Refoundation Party (LIBRE), where she led six electoral processes since 2012, until September 2019 when she was elected by the National Congress as Proprietary Counselor of the National Electoral Council (CNE) and first president of the highest electoral body, a position she left after the 2021 elections to accompany President Xiomara Castro as Minister of Finance on January 27, 2022, later resigning from her position on January 1, 2024, to seek the presidential candidacy. On September 1, 2024, she was sworn in as Minister of Defense, following the resignation of former Defense Minister José Manuel Zelaya.
