Draft:Riga Fashion Week

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Riga Fashion Week is a week-long event where fashion designers from Latvia and abroad showcase their latest collections. It was first held in 2004.[1] In 2019, from October 29 to November 2, the 31st season took place, presenting the spring—summer 2020 collections.[2] The Riga Fashion Week program includes not only fashion shows of designer collections but also a series of various events—exhibitions, contests, parties, and other events, which are an integral part of Riga Fashion Week and are aimed at educating visitors about fashion, networking, and entertainment. Some of these events are also open to the public.[3]

Organizers

[edit]

Riga Fashion Week is organized by the Baltic Fashion Federation, whose president is Jeļena Strahova.[4] Volunteers who gain internship opportunities also participate in the organization.[5]

Other events

[edit]

During Riga Fashion Week, a campaign is organized to support LMA students, where special design T-shirts are created. On November 2, 2019, the Riga Fashion Week pop-up store operated, where it was possible to purchase RFW T-shirts with designs inspired by popular Latvian musicians, created by famous Latvian fashion designers, such as brands Dace Bahmann, Anna Led, MCouture, One Wolf, and ArtJam. All donated money went to LMA students to support the creation of new fashion shows.[8]
