Draft:Reel trailer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A reel trailer is a piece of utility construction equipment towed by a powered vehicle like a truck. It is commonly used to transport spools[1] of varying sizes, materials & weights. [2]

These trailers are used by a variety of industries. The telecommunication industry uses them for carrying fiber & innerduct.[3] The electrical industry uses them for transporting cable & electrical wiring[4]. Lastly the irrigation industry transports water piping coiled up on a spool. The military has limited use cases as well.

The main advantage to using a reel trailer to transport a spool instead of a more traditional flat bed trailer is that it allows operators to easily unload the materials by spinning the spool.

Reel trailers are not intended to transport riders or passengers.[5]
