Ravenwood, is an American alternative rock band formed in 2010 in North Canton, Ohio.[1]. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & producer Joe Vitale Jr is the only permanent member of the band.

The leader of Ravenwood, Joe Vitale Jr, son of rock drummer Joe Vitale (Joe Walsh, The Eagles, Crosby Stills & Nash) recorded the band's first commercial release single, Don't Let Go (2018)[2], while performing as a solo artist under his own name.

Ravenwood's second commercial release single, We're All In This Together (2020) was reviewed in the online publication, A&R Factory & in the online magazine, Crack Wise Magazine review.[3][4][5] Both songs were released under Vari Loud Records.[6][7]

History

Formation (2010-2014)

In 2010, Joe Vitale Jr founded Ravenwood in North Canton, Ohio.[1][8] Ravenwood uses a combination of genres of alternative rock, industrial rock & analog synthesizers in their releases.[9]

Ravenous (2018-2021)

Written, arranged, produced and performed by Joe Vitale Jr.[10]

The first commercial single Don't Let Go was released in 2018.[11][12]

Ravenwood's second commercial release We're All In This Together (2020).[13]

Ravenwood's third commercial release & first LP was released in 2021[14]

Unsympathetic Vibrations (2021-2022)

The first commercial single "Blind" was released in 2022.[12]

Ravenwood's fourth commercially release.

Alive Music Festival (2023)

Ravenwood is the first considered mainstream band to ever perform at the Christian Alive Music Festival. Related to this Mr. Vitale is an author of Christian books and has released 4 books.

Downtown Canton Music Festival (2023)

Ravenwood reached another milestone when the band was slated to headline the Inaugural 2023 Downtown Canton Music Festival in Canton, Ohio. This festival replaces the long run national Canton Blues Festival.[15][16]

Don't Let Go

"Don't Let Go" is the first commercially released single from Ravenwood on January 31st, 2018 & the guitar solo was performed by guitarist, Neil Zaza.[11][2]

We're All in This Together

"We're All in This Together" is the second commercially released single from Ravenwood on May 5th, 2020.[3][13]

Ravenous

"Ravenous" was Ravenwood's first full length album commercial release on May 7th, 2021.[14]

Blind

"Blind" is the third commercially released single from Ravenwood on July 29th, 2022. "Blind" is part of Ravenwood's second commercially released album "Unsympathetic Vibrations".

Unsympathetic Vibrations

"Unsympathetic Vibrations" is Ravenwood's second commercially released album, released on March 3rd, 2023.[18][19]

Music Festivals

In 2023, Ravenwood got it's milestone break by being selected to perform at the national Alive Music Festival in Mineral City, OH for July 14th, 2023.[20] Subsequently, Ravenwood was also chosen to headline it's first music festival for the inaugural Downtown Canton Music Festival.[21]

Books

Ravenwood released the book "The lyrics of Ravenous" in connection with the release of their album Ravenous in the fall of 2021. This book is a collection of the band's lyrics & interior liner notes from the album "Ravenous".

Film

Vitale, under the name J. Ravenwood, scored the independent film called Safe in 2010. This was the inception of Vitale's use of the name Ravenwood. The film was released to film festivals around the United States and won honorable mention at the Myrtle Beach Film Festival in 2011.

Podcast

In the winter of 2022, Vitale started an official podcast called "Cast the Raven" on all major podcast platforms.[22]
