Rano Jalilovna Kubayeva (Uzbek: Raʼno Jalilovna Kubayeva; born 25 November 1961) is a Soviet and Uzbek actress, film director, screenwriter and producer.
Biography
[edit]Born on 25 November 1961 in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). In 1983, she graduated from the acting department of the Sergei Gerasimov All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography, Boris Chirkov's workshop.
Rano Kubayeva made her debut in cinema as a student. One of her first big works - the role of a girl named Ayna in the historical and biographical film "The Youth of Genius" directed by Elyor Ishmuhamedov, telling about the life of the outstanding oriental scientist and medic Avicenna.
After graduation, Rano Kubayeva actively acted in films, mainly at the Uzbekfilm studio. Among her works: Dilbar Sobirovna, an inspector of the children's room of the police in the children's film "Train from the Station of Childhood" ("Bolalik vokzalidan kelgan poyezd"), Zebo in the fairy tale "Constellation of Love" ("Muhabbat burji"), Olim's wife in the social drama "Clinic" ("Klinika"), and a book seller in the suspense film "Reserved Hill" ("Qoʻriqlangan tepalik").
Personal life
[edit]Rano Kubayeva was married to her classmate - actor Bahrom Matchonov.[1]
Their daughter[2] - Ravshana Kurkova - continued the acting dynasty.
Public position
[edit]In March 2014, she signed the letter "We are with you!" ("Мы с Вами!") of "Cinema Union" in support of Ukraine.[3]

[edit]Film career
[edit]Rano Kubayeva first appeared as a director and screenwriter in 1994, presenting the drama "The Younger" ("Младшая"), shot at the Uzbekfilm studio. The debut was successful - in 1995 the film won the First Prize for directing at the Women's Film Festival in Minsk and the professional prize of Uzbekistan's cinematographers "Griffon".
In 1999, Rano Kubayeva's brother,[4] director Rauf Kubayev, made a magnificent film based on her script, "White Dance" ("Белый танец"), which won a lot of prizes at various prestigious film festivals. In this film Rano Kubaeva performed one of the roles.
And in 2004, Rano Jalilovna put her own picture - a comedy "Wonderful Valley" ("Чудная долина"), the main roles in which performed outstanding actors Nadezhda Rumyantseva and Mikhail Kozakov.
Later as a director Rano Kubaeva participated in the production of films and television series: "UGRO. Simple Guys" (2 and 3 parts), "Figa.Ro", "Real Boars".
Since 1998, Rano Kubayeva has been the artistic director of the film company "SADR" ("САДР") (Moscow).
