Draft:Punching Shear in structural members

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Punching shear is the shear failure of structural members due to high concentrated loads or highly localised forces. Punching shear failure is a sudden catastrophic type of failure. It occurs when the shearing stresses around the loaded area result in the formation of diagonal fracture plain. It can be observed in flat slabs and foundations.
