Draft:Popularity of 3 idiots in China

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[1][2]

Three Idiots has been very popular in China. It was not a box office blockbuster in China. It has been rated 9.2 by Douban, a well known Chinese review website. It is hailed by few as the movie 'film of century' of China. It also became very popular in adjoining Japan due to shared environment. Fewer Indian films are shown in China as only a fixed quota of foreign films is allowed to be shown in theaters to encourage domestic productions. It's success in korean markets attests to the fact about the similiar situation among these countries.

"The phenomenal success of 3 Idiots in upcoming markets like Korea, Hong Kong is truly a testimony of the fact that good content is universally acceptable," says Vidhu Vinod Chopra, producer of the film.
