Piri Mammadov[1] - (Azerb:Piri Məmmədov; January 25, 1940 – December 25, 2008) – Honored Journalist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, winner of the Golden Pen Award in 1977.
Biography
[edit]Piri Mammadov was born on January 25, 1940 in the village of Geokchay Alykyand, Azerbaijan SSR. Later he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of ASU named after S. M. Kirov (now BSU) (1969). Since 1978, he worked as the head of the department of the Kommunist newspaper. Since 1992, Mammadov, who continued to work for the ''Khalk'' newspaper, worked as head of the Social Problems department of the Respublika newspaper from 1996 until his death in 2008. Awarded the Golden Pen Award in 1977. He died on December 25, 2008 in Baku.
