Pedro Piquero (Seville, January 28, 1976[1][2]) is a Spanish pianist, translator and Zen Buddhist teacher.
Music
[edit]Pedro Piquero completed his musical training in Spain with Esteban Sánchez and in the US with Caio Pagano[3] and graduated cum laude from Arizona State University. In 2002 he was invited by pianist Maria João Pires for a residency at the Belgais Arts Center in Portugal.[4]
As a pianist, Piquero has performed in the United States, South America, Mexico, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland. Concerts with him were broadcast on radio and television.[5]
His albums have received several awards like the Independent Music Award[6] and the Melómano de Oro[7][8].

Buddhism
[edit]In 2017, Piquero received Dharma transmission in Soto Zen Buddhism[9] in Japan from Peter Rodo Rocca, in the lineage of Zen master Gudō Wafu Nishijima, of whom he was his last student.[10] He currently is president of Dogen Sangha in Spain and director of Zendo Gudo.[11]
As a translator, Piquero, together with Gudō Wafu Nishijima, edited Eihei Dogen's Shōbōgenzō (Sirio, 2013–2016), the foundational philosophical text of Japanese Soto Zen Buddhism[12] in a four-volume edition, as well as Nāgārjuna's Mūlamadhyamakakārikā (Sirio, 2019).[13]
