Palmardy is a French-American cover band from Washington DC formed in 2022 by lead singer Nicholas "Nico" Maubert and rhythm guitarist Jean-Roald "Jean-Ro" L'Hermitte.
They perform at the French Embassy on Bastille Day and French-American Chamber of Commerce sponsored events.
The name "Palmardy" is a French play on word that loosely translates to "Not on Tuesdays". The story goes that the early members of the band came up with this name while picking a day of the week for rehearsal and shows. As JC, the bass player, was already part of another band that rehearsed on Tuesdays, it was decided that the band would practice on any day other than Tuesdays.
They are unique because:
- They are the only French-American ska band in the Washington DC area.
- They sing in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Mauritian Creole.
- While they are mainly a ska band, they occasionally tap into the rock, funk and sega genres.
Current band members:
- Nicholas Maubert: Frontman, lead singer and trumpet.
- Clement Maubert: backup vocals and drums.
- Laetitia Doyle: lead and back up vocals.
- Jean-Christophe "JC" Yin : backup vocals and bass.
- Amar B Panray: guitar
- Rose Vilcocq: keyboard
- Paul Vilcocq: trombone
Past band members:
Guest members:
- Héloïse Therrat: back up vocals. (7/14/2024)
