P. J. Rathbone is the current Mayor of High Shoals, North Carolina. He has served in this position since 2019, defeating the incumbent Dan Weekly.[1][2] In the 2019 city election, he defeated Weekly by one vote.[3]He was re-elected the 2023 mayor elections, when he won 91.49% of votes.[4]
His Mayor Pro-Tempore is Denese Cooks.[1]Notable changes while in office include increasing community engagement and increased budget for public services.[5]
There was a plumbing lawsuit against the city under Rathbone’s administration.[6]Banners honoring former veterans were installed throughout Main ST. under Rathbone’s administration.[6]
