Oxagon (stylized OXAGON; Arabic: أوكساجون) is a floating industrial complex under construction in Saudi Arabia in Neom, Tabuk Province, which is designed in the shape of an octagon and is a 100% powered by clean energy.[2] The city will be located on the Red Sea close to the Suez Canal, and south to THE LINE, and it will include the current port of Duba, which is now part of OXAGON.[3] The project will focus on modern manufacturing, industrial research, sustainability, and development. The industrial city is part of Saudi Vision 2030 project, which Saudi Arabia claims will create around 460,000 jobs and add an estimated $48 billion to the country's GDP. Mohammed Bin Salman expects Oxagon to become "a new focal point for global trade flows" and service shipping routes through the Red Sea. The plans for the complex include a desalination plant, a hydrogen plant and an oceanographic research center. It will also be home to the cognitive multinational company Tonomus (originally NEOM Tech & Digital Company), which is the first subsidiary company to evolve from NEOM.[4]
On December 16, 2022, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones and Neom signed a memorandum of understanding to facilitate collaboration and legislation in support of Neom's Future Factories Program.[5] As of January 2023, Neom has not provided any information regarding how the complex will remain afloat.
