Operation iGuardian is a child protection initiative launched by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under its Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division. The program focuses on safeguarding children and teens from online predators and other forms of exploitation. Through education, enforcement, and outreach, Operation iGuardian addresses the growing threats posed by the digital age.
Overview
[edit]The initiative was developed to respond to the increasing risks associated with internet usage among minors. Operation iGuardian emphasizes both prevention and intervention by equipping children, parents, and educators with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the internet safely.
The program also assists law enforcement in identifying and prosecuting individuals involved in the exploitation of children, including those engaging in cyberbullying, sextortion, and the dissemination of child sexual abuse materials.
