Nushell (often shortened to Nu) is a cross-platform shell with the ability to view and manipulate structured data.[1] It supports many Unix-like operating systems along with Microsoft Windows. Due to the shell's focus on structured data and user friendliness, it is not POSIX compliant.[2]

History

[edit]

Nushell was first created by Yehuda Katz in 2019, bearing the name Objectshell.[3] It took inspiration from Powershell.
