Nat Sakimura (born July 26, 1965) is a Japanese researcher in the field of information technology, known for his contributions to identity management and privacy protection.[1] Sakimura has been instrumental in developing several key standards and protocols, including OpenID Connect, OAuth PKCE RFC 7636 [2][3], JSON Web Token (JWT), and JSON Web Signature (JWS). He is the Chairman of the OpenID Foundation[3][4] and has been recognized for his work in standardization and digital security. [3][4]

Career

Sakimura has served as the Chairman of the OpenID Foundation since 2011.[3][4] The foundation is known for developing standards related to identity management and privacy. Sakimura played a crucial role in the publication and promotion of OpenID Connect, which has been adopted by major technology companies and governments worldwide.[3]

Sakimura has also served as Digital Special Advisor to Japan Fair Trade Commission since 2021.[5]
