Mykhaylo Oleksandrovych Pobigay (Ukrainian: Михайло Олександрович Побігай; born 16 February 1990) is a Ukrainian military officer, lawyer, and politician. He is the founder of Volt Ukraine, the Ukrainian chapter of Volt Europa, established in July 2022, and serves as its chairman.[1]. Volt Ukraine advocates for Ukraine's membership in the European Union and increased military support for Ukraine[2].
Early life and education
[edit]Pobigay was born in Pervomaisk, in the former Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. He earned a master's degree in International Financial and Comparative Law from the State Tax University in 2013[3].
Military career
[edit]He began his military career in 2013, serving in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He has been actively involved in the conflict in Donbas since 2014, holding various officer positions[4].
Political career
[edit]In 2020, Pobigay ran as an independent candidate in the Ukrainian parliamentary by-election for the 208th district in the Chernihiv region[5].
Humanitarian activities
[edit]Pobigay is also the founder of the non-governmental organization *Land of The Free*, which focuses on humanitarian aid, including the evacuation of refugees and the provision of medical equipment to the Ukrainian defense forces[6]
