Draft:Murder of the Newalls
Nicholas and Elizabeth Newall were a couple living in Jersey who were murdered by their two sons Roderick (aged 22) and Mark (aged 21) on 10 October 1987 on the evening of their mother's 48th birthday. Roderick confessed to beating both his parents to death, and together with his younger brother they buried the bodies in woods where they remained for six years. For five years the crime remained unsolved until Roderick confessed to his uncle on a trip to Scotland.
The bodies were found on 9 November 1993.[1] Roderick was convicted of double murder and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1994.[2]

[edit]After a long drunken argument, Roderick used a pickaxe and a martial arts rice flail to kill his parents.[3]

He was released in 2007 after serving 13 years of his life sentence.[3]
