Zachary Riopelle, known professionally as Mr. Ropelle, is an American singer-songwriter.[1] He is known for his lyrical content and alternative approach to pop music. His work blends elements of electronic, pop, and experimental music.[2]

Early life and education

Born and raised in New York City, Zachary Riopelle developed an early interest in storytelling and media. He attended LaGuardia High School for Performing Arts in New York City where he was a Drama major who graduated with the Principal’s Award for Excellence in Drama. He then earned a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Culture and Media at Brown University, where he regularly performed creative works like Mr. Burns and Sonic Life of a Giant Tortoise.[3][4]

Music

In 2018, Zachary had a cabaret fellowship at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center.[5][6] In 2019, Zachary Riopelle won Don't Tell Mama's NEXT BIG ACT live-singing competition in New York City and started performing in clubs around the city like Birdland.[7][8] In 2024, Leesta Vall asked Mr. Riopelle to do a direct-to-vinyl recording session at their studio in Greenpoint.[9]

Mr. Riopelle began his recording career with the album PUSSY POETIC, set to release in full on December 27, 2024.[10] The album is made possible by Mr. Riopelle Records, LLC.[11][12] Tracks from the album have been noted for their combination of genres and focus on storytelling.[13] In addition to his solo work, Mr. Riopelle curates playlists under his record label, including "SHAKE YA BOOTY," which highlights his selections of queer dance music.[14][non-primary source needed]
