Introduction:
Joseph Tanus Chubatte (Joseph Chebat) (born September 20, 1973) is a Lebanese born and raised, self-made business man and Co-founder of more than 12 companies across the United Arab Emirates and MENA in Insurance, consultancy, trade, gold and e-commerce. Joseph is a seasoned business titan with over 30 years of unparalleled experience in insurance sales, management, and business development. This compelling narrative traces the remarkable journey of a man who not only mastered the intricacies of the insurance industry but also revolutionized the way businesses approach sales and management. He speaks four languages, Arabic, English, French & Greek.
• The School of Hard Knocks:
Detailing Joseph’s entry into the insurance industry, this chapter sheds light on the challenges he faced during the initial years of his career. From door-to-door sales to navigating complex regulatory landscapes, every obstacle served as a learning opportunity that shaped Joseph’s resilient and adaptive mindset. Joseph started his insurance career in 1994 at an in-insurance broker, and after few years, in 1999, he decided to work as freelance insurance broker till 2006 where he shifted to Abu Dhabi, UAE and joined Al Dhafra Insurance Company PSJ, as Business Development Manager.
• Climbing the Corporate Ladder As a result of his massive performance in the insurance company, business generation and immense increase in company’s profitability, Joseph got promoted in two years to Senior position to become Assistant General Manager in charge of sales, marketing and business development of the company.
• Reflections and Future Visions His passion, dedication, creativity, thirst to knowledge and to evolve did not come to an end with his post at Al Dhafra, but it was a ticket to a better tomorrow. His passion in Insurance helped him gain profound knowledge in all aspects of insurance, and drove him to establish his own insurance Brokerage Company in October 2010, which is Capital Shield Insurance Brokers LLC. A dream came true! Joseph’s attempts into convincing companies to avail his insurance broker services, particularly with the launch of his startup CSIB, faced significant challenges. Courageously, Joseph embraced the philosophy that says "there is nothing like a dream to create the future" and differentiated himself by prioritizing values, superior coverage, competitive premiums, and exceptional after-sales service. A company which started with 2 employees, and a small office with zero production and/or captive business to become today one of the very known insurance brokerage companies in UAE, with a team of 100+ employees, billions of dollars insured assets as defense contractors’ marine hulls, airports, ports, aviation, power plants, and many others. With the leadership of Joseph Chubatte, Capital Shield developed impressively and steadily in 14 years of operations and became one of the leading insurance brokerage companies in UAE.
• Innovations and Transformations His trailblazing spirit extended to technological innovation, as he became the first in the MENA region to offer insurance services via a smart App 11 years ago. This milestone underscores his commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership in the MENA insurance sector.
With a decade-plus of prominent presence in the UAE's insurance market, CSIB changed its name to Abu Dhabi Insurance Brokers (AIB) in 2022. This name change was consequence of joining Royal Strategic Partners as shareholder. With the same management and team, AIB continues to be a driving force, setting industry benchmarks and forging lasting relationships with clients in all types of insurance.
• Blackmailing and Legal cases In the year 2020, while expanding the business to Iraq, and due to the successful business project presented by Joseph there, he confronted alleged accusations and legal adversities due to commercial/financial greed of some persons there, wherein he was exposed to blackmailing and lawsuits. Nevertheless, he won all the cases filed against him in Lebanon and Iraq.
• Philanthropy and Legacy Beyond the boardroom, Joseph is highly committed to philanthropy and community engagement. His efforts to give back and leave a positive impact on society underscore the depth of his character and the values that drive his success.
