Money.it is an Italian business newspaper, published digitally, founded in 2006 by Dimitri Stagnitto with the name Forexinfo.
History
[edit]Based in Rome, Money.it is a leading all-digital publisher for Italian-language audiences, with editorial offices in Rome, Milan and a foreign editorial office in Lugano.
Money.it topped the list of most-read financial information sites in Italy in 2019.[1] with more than 9 million monthly unique users and kept its growth reaching more than 14 million unique users in a single month in 2021[2] (certified by ComScore).
In 2020 Money.it was the first online news site to certify its news on the blockchain[3], certified news can be consulted and verified on a dedicated website. In 2023 this feature was improved with specific certification for fact-checking articles, using blockchain to contrast fake news ensuring increased reliability and transparency for its readers.
Editorial stance
[edit]Money is an independent economic and financial newspaper and is characterised by a pluralist and libertarian editorial line.
The editorial imprint is technical, dealing mainly with in-depth economic, financial, fiscal and legal issues.
In 2023 Money.it signed a syndication agreement with Financial Times, becoming the only Italian newspaper to broadcast FT.com news in Italian[4]
In 2024 Money.it edited a white paper on digital education[5], publication that brings together the contributions of numerous academic and institutional experts on the subject of education in the use of digital technologies, with particular reference to the new generations. Authors include Marco Camisani Calzolari, Elio Gullo[6], Guido Scorza[7].
The publication of this white paper is part of a broader programme by Money.it to promote a mature and aware use of technology, including online information.
Technical aspects
[edit]Money.it is made using SPIP[8], a french open source Content Management System based on php. Currently, it's one of the most visited websites in the world using SPIP as CMS.
