Monal is an XMPP client software, available on iPhone and MacOS..[1]
It's one of the rare XMPP client on iPhone, with Snikket and Siskin, to support both OMEMO encryption and voice/videoconference via Jingle protocols.[2]
In 2024, it was retired by Apple from the Chinese AppStore, from a government request, as well as WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram.[3]
History :
[edit]Monal is a fork of the SwordIM XMPP client, in 2002[4]. It's development has started again almost twenty years later, to adapt it better to Apple devices.[5]
