Inamur Rahman (1922 – 3 February 2008), known by his pen name as Inam Thanvi, was an Indian Poet and Persian Scholar.

Early life and career

[edit]

Thana Bhawan, the land of Rushd and Hidayat, is where Molana Inam Thanvi was born in 1922. After completing his Arabic studies at Mazahir Uloom Saharanpur in 1948, where he worked for sixty years in the publication department, he finished his studies in Farsi at Darul Uloom Deoband in 1937. He occasionally taught Persian, too. In 2008, Qutub Sher Cemetery, Saharanpur, laid him to rest at the age of 85.

A collection of Poetry named Armaghan -e- Takhayyul is his literary monument.

Hazrat Maulana Inam Thanvi Saharanpur, an Urdu-Persian poet, was distinguished, thoughtful, expressive, and Qadir-ul-Kalaam. He was born a poet, and he would recite poetry in every mood. He was proficient in Nazm & Tareekh Goi. There are very few Tareekhs in Urdu, and most of them are in Persian. The following phrases demonstrate how much Arbab -e- Sukhan respected and admired his character and creative ability.

(1) Hasanpur Lohari's Janab Karimi Al-Ahsani claims that Maulana's poetry is rife with conflict. In addition, the ghazals are catchy and timeless.

(2) The renowned poet and Saharanpur instructor Hazrat Wasif Abidi states that Molana is a life and universe expert; in addition to being a thoughtful and perceptive poet and writer, "in his Kalaam, there is an element of self-realisation and God-realisation."

(3) An influential viewpoint from Janab Samir Khatri (Dahod), a distinguished expert on Ilm-e-Arooz, is as follows: "Some of his poems are so full of beauty that if one reads them in full and does not look at the Maqta, one assumes it is a Kalaam of Josh Malihabadi."

(4) Maulvi Nasiruddin Lakhim Puri, the Persian Department instructor at Mazahir Uloom Waqf Saharanpur, states that "Ustade Mohtaram Maulana Inam Thanvi's Kalaam is a magnificent work of art, demonstrating his depth and development of thought and awareness."
