Monchelo Luthando Nikani (born December 20, 2007) is an American rapper from Des Moines, Iowa.[1][2]

He began his recording career in 2019 on SoundCloud. In 2021, he signed with the Swedish independent music distribution company Amuseio AB.[3]He is Christian, and is known for incorporating his faith in his music.[4]

Early life and education

Nikani was born on December 20, 2007.[5] He had a distaste for music until when he was in fifth grade, a friend of his introduced him to the art of music creation. This was where he started to pursue a music career. Nikani cites Juice WRLD as his main source of inspiration.[6]

Before rap, Nikani was involved in the 2016 Cookie Caucus, where he cast 2 ballots voting for all four cookies.[7]

Career

Nikani started rapping in 2019. He got his stage name from the nickname of WWE wrestler Triple H, who is said to be the "King of Kings". His first single, "Chose the Dark Beat for The Cypher", was released to minimal success. The song was recorded in the span of two days.[8] Nikani's first album, "0101", was released in 2021 to mild reception, although some praise was reserved for Nikani's composition and flow.[9] Nikani's next album, "New Beginnings", was his first major hit.[10] Critics lauded the wordplay, lyrics, and flow in the songs.[11] Hit songs from the album include "Beautiful Morning", "Love Letter to My Crush", and "Rockstar".[12]

Nikani is known for his wordplay, melancholic lyrics, and his straight edge image.[13]

Personal life

Nikani has spoken in favor of two-term limits for congress.[14] He is a Christian, and has incorporated his religion in his songs.

On December 2nd, 2024, Nikani was arrested for shoplifting at a Walmart in Corpus Christi, Texas.[15]
