Mikael Björnstjerna, born 1935, is a swedish architect, an industrial designer and a co-founder of the original Boda Nova company of Sweden, noted for its bold, radical design philosophy. He briefly served on the board of directors of the Swedish Architects’ Association SIR. His work embraces architecture, industrial design and graphic design.

As well as working on architecture and industrial design he has contributed illustrations to varied newspapers such as The New York Times and International Herald Tribune. A number of his creations have been on display at Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and at European expositions such as the traveling exhibition Scandinavian Design Cavalcade, designed and supervised by him.

Part of a cultural exchange program, and made of 1000 white cardboard boxes, SDC went to Copenhagen, Milan, Warsaw and Wroclaw. Samples of Mikael Björnstjerna’s design work are in the permanent collections of The National Museum in Stockholm and The Museum of Modern Art / MoMA in New York.
