Mayo Model G20 Summit
[edit]The Mayo Model G20 Summit is a colossal event held at Mayo College Ajmer, an all-boys private boarding school. It brings together the brightest minds from prestigious institutions across the world to address urgent political, social, and economic issues while mastering collaborative diplomacy, innovation, and sustainable solutions. As the leaders of tomorrow, the participants engage in high-level discussions, negotiations, and problem-solving exercises that mirror the actual G20 summit. It has a different theme every year and is a first-of-its-kind event, providing a fully-accurate simulation of the actual G20 Summit in the country with an idiosyncratic format that was formulated without any reference. This event is designed for future leaders who aspire to make a positive impact on the world.
History and Founding
[edit]The Mayo Model G20 Summit was conceived as a first-of-its-kind initiative in India to provide high school students with a platform to engage in an accurate simulation of the G20. The founders aimed to create an event that combined real-world applicability with academic rigor, focusing on global challenges such as climate change, economic disparity, and international trade. Unlike traditional simulation formats, the summit introduced an idiosyncratic structure developed independently, making it a unique educational experience.
It was founded by 3 students- Amogh Javali, Apoorv Agarwal, and Shubham Gupta and a faculty advisor- Dr Varinder Johal
Since its inception, the summit has seen two successful editions, evolving into a widely recognized event that inspires similar initiatives in India and internationally.
Objectives
[edit]At their core lies a fundamental mission: to encapsulate the very essence of international cooperation, and collaboration. This summit will be a platform that not only mirrors but also amplifies the principles of unity, partnership and the ideals of G20. We aspire to cultivate a collective sense of accountability and ownership, empowering each participant to contribute meaningfully towards shaping a future that is not only brighter but also more equitable for every individual. They aim to illuminate the path towards a brighter tomorrow for our planet and its inhabitants together and shine our collective light upon the critical global issues that clamour for our immediate attention, nurturing innovation as we endeavour to unearth effective solutions.
Format
[edit]The Summit features a comprehensive program that includes:
1. Keynote Addresses: Eminent speakers will address the summit, offering insights and perspectives on various topics.
2. Committee Sessions: Participants will be divided into committees, each focused on a specific global issue, and engage in discussions, negotiations, and proposal development.
3. Plenary Session: High-level discussions will take place in a plenary session, where resolutions and collaborative initiatives will be presented.
