Maynard Weston Dow (1929 - August 5, 2011) was an American geographer.[1]

With his wife, Nancy Freeman Dow, He founded and created the Geographers on Film series.

Early life and education

Dow was born in Brunswick, Maine.[2]

He graduated with a BS from the United States Naval Academy in 1952. He graduated with a MA from Rutgers University in 1960. He received a PhD from Syracuse University in 1965.[3]

After completing his PhD, Dow began teaching at the Air Force Academy, where he taught from 1960 to 1962 and from 1964 to 1972. He then moved to Plymouth State University.[4]

For 22 years he served in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1972.[5]
