Matty Thomson, born on February 25, 2000, in Wirral, England, is a professional footballer who primarily plays as a right-back. Standing at 1.76 meters tall, he has developed his career through various clubs in the English football system.

Thomson began his career with Chester FC, where he progressed through the youth ranks. In 2019, he joined Bamber Bridge on loan, a move that was later made permanent. During his time at Bamber Bridge, he established himself as a reliable defender, attracting attention from higher-tier clubs.

In 2023, Thomson signed with Southport FC, competing in the National League North. Since joining Southport, he has continued to showcase his defensive capabilities, contributing to the team's performances in the league.

Throughout his career, Thomson has been recognized for his defensive skills and versatility on the field. As of January 2025, he remains a key player for Southport FC, with aspirations to further his career in English football.

He’s an exceptional player with a skill set that truly stands out. His defensive abilities, consistency, and versatility make him a cornerstone for Southport FC, and it's been a privilege to watch his growth on the field.

What excites me most is the potential he’s yet to unlock. Matty has all the tools to elevate his game even further, and I have no doubt that we’ll see even greater performances from him as he continues to refine his craft.
