Model turned actress Amna Ilyas appeared in many films including 7 Din Mohabbat In, Ready Steady No and Baaji. In 2020, According to reports, Amna has signed another film project, titled Mastani, which will see opposite TV actor Affan Waheed, who appeared in drama serial Do Bol. Amna Ilyas, who played the titular role, confirmed the news to Instep. According to director-writer of the film, Usman Rizvi, the film falls under the genre of comedy, drama and suspense.
    In a interview, Affan Waheed, who is makes his big screen debut with the film shared, “It’s an exciting, enthralling and awe-inspiring love journey of a kind-hearted and ordinary man Shakil and his complete opposite love interest, Aaliyah. One of the reasons I chose this script was that my character didn’t require slapstick humour to make its presence felt”.

Mastaani is a 2024 Pakistani romantic-thriller Urdu language film directed and written by Usman Rizvi.[2] The film is produced by Daniya Nizami. It stars film debutant Affan Waheed, Amna Ilyas, Abbas Ashraf Awan and Hira Khan. The film production done under the banner of DU Entertainment and Distributed by International Multi Group Of Companies (IMGC) and Distribution Club. The film was released on 23 August 2024.[3][4]

Principal photography begun in June 2020. Filming for the film took place at Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Kashmir, Pakistan.[3][7]

Release

First teaser released on 4 July 2024. Trailler was released on 23 July 2024 and the film released on 23 August 2024 across the country (Pakistan).[7][8][9][10]

Reception

Dawn Images reviewed the film and states that "The film is well-intentioned with powerful performances and stunning cinematography but is let down by its inability to focus on a few core issues.[11]
