Mary George Jordan Waite is the first woman elected president of the Alabama Bankers Association.[1]

Education

Mary received her AB Degree in English and Sociology and an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Huntington College in Montgomery.[2]

Career

Mary became president of Farmers and Merchants Bank after the death of her father, who previously held the position.[1] Mary also held leadership in many other organizations, including the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, the Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs, and the Alabama Department of the American Legion Auxiliary.[1]

In 1993, Mary was the first woman elected president of the Alabama Bankers Association.[1]
