Dr. Manash Pratim Goswami is an esteemed Indian academic specializing in journalism and mass communication, with a career spanning over two decades in teaching, research, and industry practice.

Early Life and Education

Dr. Goswami completed his Bachelor of Science from the University of Delhi in 1998. He then pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising & Public Relations from YMCA, New Delhi, both in 1999. In 2004, he earned his Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Punjabi University, Patiala, where he was awarded a Gold Medal for his academic excellence. He subsequently obtained his Ph.D. from the same university in December 2015, focusing his research on "Changing Trends of Publicity Strategies for Promotion of Hindi Films.[1]

Academic Career

Dr. Goswami began his academic career as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Management Studies, Dehradun, in January 2005. He then served at MBICEM, an affiliated college under Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, from July 2005 to September 2012. In September 2012, he joined Indira Gandhi National Tribal University in Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, where he worked until October 2019. He then moved to the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) as an Associate Professor in the Department of Media and Communication, serving from October 2019 to October 2023. In October 2023, Dr. Goswami joined the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) as a Professor.[1]

Dr. Goswami's research interests encompass art, culture, media, advertising, corporate communication, media economics, management, and new media. He has authored over three dozen research papers in peer-reviewed journals, including publications in UGC-CARE and Scopus-indexed journals. His work has appeared in international journals such as Media Asia (Taylor & Francis), Journal of Religion and Health (Springer Nature), Asia Pacific Media Educator (Sage), and Journal of Creative Communications (Sage). His research methodologies include ethnographic, netnographic, and longitudinal studies, with both quantitative and qualitative approaches.[2]

Dr. Goswami has authored and edited several books. Notably, he wrote "In the Heartland of Tribes," reflecting his personal experiences with tribal communities in central India. He has also edited works such as "Bollywood Cinema: A Kaleidoscopic View" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat and Media," the latter published in 2022.[3]
