Mai Whelan, also known as Player 287, was the winner of the inaugural season of Squid Game: The Challenge.[1][2] She received the grand prize of USD $4.56 million.[3][4][5]
Background
[edit]Mai Whelan is an immigration adjudicator for the Department of Homeland Security.[4][6] She was born in Vietnam and later sought refuge in the United States after the Fall of Saigon in 1975, moving to the country at the age of 8.[3][6][7]
