Etymology of the Name
[edit]Lotan's given name was named after the bibilical figure Lot(Hebrew: "לוֹט"). Apearing in Book of Genesis chapters 11-14 and 19, Lot was a part of the ancestral lineage connected to the Edomites, who were closely related to the Israelites through Esau, Jacob's brother. His daughter Timna is also notable for becoming a concubine to Esau's son, Eliphaz.
Lotan got his Surname from his father, Igor Gutman. His side of the family spoke fluent Yiddish, where "Gutman"(he) translates to "good man". This surname is popular amongst ashkenazi jews in Eastern Europe.
